The Kansas City Chiefs ended their two-game losing skid, beating the Philadelphia Eagles 42-23 at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 4.
Although the Chiefs defense continued to struggle as it did over the past three weeks, Kansas City’s offense could not be denied in this one. Patrick Mahomes completed 24 of 30 passes for 278 yards and five touchdowns. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who had 70 total receiving yards over the past two games, caught 11 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns.
The victory marked the 100th win for Andy Reid as the Chiefs’ head coach, making him the first coach in NFL history to win 100+ games with two different teams.
Fans of the Chiefs and NFL took to Twitter following the victory for Kansas City, who now have a 2-2 record after four weeks of regular-season play.

Chiefs-Eagles Roundup
Overall, there shouldn’t be too many Chiefs fans excited about the Week 4 win for the defending AFC champions. Kansas City did look like the best offense in football against the Eagles, however, the Chiefs defense gave up 461 yards to an a Philadelphia offense that was missing several starters along their offensive line.
Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts was sacked three times — which isn’t a lot considering the lack of talent protecting him in Week 4 — and threw for a career-high 387 yards, had two touchdowns and didn’t have a single turnover. Rookie first-round pick DeVonta Smith hadn’t registered more than 71 receiving yards in a game leading into the matchup against Kansas City, but managed to gather 122 yards on seven catches against the Chiefs.
Reid mentioned after the game that veteran linebacker Ben Niemmann was in concussion protocol and defensive lineman Joshua Kaindoh sustained a left ankle injury during the game. So along with continued poor play by the defense, the injuries also continue to pile on. Kansas City played against Philadelphia without cornerbacks Rashad Fenton (concussion) and Charvarius Ward (quad), along with defensive end Frank Clark (hamstring).
Hopefully a return in Week 5 for the aforementioned players can help lighten the blow the defense may — or at this rate, will — take from a high-flying Buffalo Bills offense that hung 40 points against the Houston Texans in a shoutout victory for the Bills in Week 4.
