Diggs Actually Complained Initially

Amazingly, Diggs seemed to act as if he thought the ejection might have been unjust. He led with his helmet directly to Harry’s facemask. It really doesn’t get much more egregious than what we saw from Diggs on that play.

The most amazing part of the sequence was Harry’s toughness as he got to his feet, and didn’t appear to be hurt or shaken up. He probably should have gone through some concussion protocol because taking a hit straight to the face in that way has to cause a bit of a jarring.

Nevertheless, Harry stayed in the game and had eight receptions for 72 yards in the game.

The Ejection Left the Seahawks Thin in the Secondary

The ejection left the Seahawks shorthanded in the secondary, and it got even worse. Diggs’ replacement Marquise Blair suffered a knee injury and didn’t return shortly after.

Despite these issues, Seahawks defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. deserves a lot of credit for drawing up creative schemes (mostly powered by the brilliance of Jamal Adams) to give the Patriots different looks.

Still, Cam Newton and Co. had their success. Newton wound up throwing for 397 yards in the game with one touchdown pass. In the end, it wasn’t enough as the Seahawks held the Patriots off with a defensive stand that finished with the team stopping Newton’s attempt to log a third TD run in the final seconds of the game.

Seahawks ran their record to 2-0 while the Patriots fell to 1-1.
