It looks as if New York Giants can breathe a sigh of relief — or at least partially.
New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard has reported that high-priced wideout Kenny Golladay is visiting a doctor on Thursday and that the expectation is that he’ll “probably miss 2-3 weeks due to a hamstring pull.”
This report comes on the heels of The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reporting a day earlier that “the early word” on Golladay is that it’s believed he avoided significant injury and that “preliminary indications are positive.”
Despite these reports, head coach Joe Judge has opted to remain mum on both the extent of Golladay’s injuries as well as a potential timetable for his return, via Giants.com’s Dan Salomone:
In other injury-related news, the Giants have placed running back Mike Weber on injured reserve with a hip flexor.

Outlook on Golladay Heading into the Season
Leonard’s reported timeline would theoretically place the former Pro Bowler’s return date sometime in late August, meaning he should be good to go for Big Blue’s Week 1 opener against the Denver Broncos on September 12. With that said, the injury will strip Golladay of valuable time both working alongside quarterback Daniel Jones and within Jason Garrett’s offensive scheme, in what is the receiver’s first offseason in East Rutherford.
While we are all itching to see Golladay take the field, it’s crucial that the organization plays things cautiously for a player that they’ve invested so much into financially. This is especially true considering how tricky hamstring injuries can be for wide receivers specifically, as previously highlighted by Duggan. Golladay initially sustained the injury earlier this week on the first day of padded practice during 7-on-7 drills.
The Giants have added two receivers to their roster in recent days, signing ex-Bengal Damion Willis and Golladay’s former Lions teammate, Andy Jones.
David Sills Once Again Turning Heads in Camp
While we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Golladay’s injury doesn’t linger into the regular season, maybe David Sills could help pick up some of the slack in the meantime. The former highly-touted quarterback-turned-wide receiver was well on his way to make the Giants 53-man roster last summer until a fractured foot wiped his 2020 slate clear. Now, back on the gridiron and back to full health, the West Virginia product looks to be picking up where he left off, most recently named a camp standout by Salomone on the team’s official website.
Sills caught two touchdowns from backup Mike Glennon, the second of which came on the final play of practice. The 6-foot-3 receiver has flashed early after he spent the entire 2020 season on injured reserve with a fractured foot he suffered in training camp.
During Sills’ Mountaineer’s career, he hauled in 35 touchdowns, second-most in school history. The now 25-year-old Sills will look to compete for a roster spot alongside the aforementioned duo of Willis and Jones in what is an exponentially improved Giants receiving corps from a season ago.
