A Very Solid Player
Harrison originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent back in 2014.
He was with the Indianapolis Colts for the first three years of his career and logged over 44 games played and started in 23 of those contests.
After that run, he signed with the Jets in 2017 and was a key depth piece that often was forced into action during his three seasons:
- 40 games played
- Started in 19 of those games
The former Florida product earned the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award and that was something he cherished in his farewell statement on Instagram.
Harrison was cut by Gang Green in September of 2020 and he ended up going on a tour around New York.
He spent time with the Buffalo Bills in 2020 and then joined the New York Giants for a large portion of 2021. Harrison’s time ended after suffering an Achilles injury but now is ready to resume his NFL career with the Falcons.
The talented offensive lineman is 30 but will turn 31 ahead of the 2022 season.
Trench Warfare
The current Jets’ offensive line may be the best they’ve had in a decade.
New signee Laken Tomlinson went as far to say that he feels like, “it could be one of the best offensive lines in the league.”
The key to that proclamation coming true is health.
Gang Green has five starters that all have the capabilities of being All-Pros or at the very least average starters with Mekhi Becton, Tomlinson, Connor McGovern, Alijah Vera-Tucker, and George Fant.
Although two of the three have had their fair share of durability concerns (Becton and Fant). If they can’t stay healthy the entire offensive line could collapse like a sack of potatoes.
Although if this group can play to their ceilings, this could completely open the offense for the green and white in 2022.
Ideally, they’d love to pound the rock and establish an identity with Michael Carter and Breece Hall. If that has the levels of success the Jets expect it to, then defenses will have to adapt to that.
That is when Zach Wilson should be able to take advantage of lighter backend defenses with a heavier box in front. That could lead to some of those explosive plays that get fans on their feet and wins the splashy headlines in New York.
Prior to general manager Joe Douglas arriving there was an obscene level of neglect in the trenches. Since he took over there has finally been a proper investment of resources into the offensive line and that’ll pay massive dividends this season.
