It only took one preseason for Mac Jones to win the starting job in New England, and the Patriots are hoping the rookie can help them rebound from a disappointing 7-9 campaign last season.
In 2021, Patriots games will be televised on CBS (12 games), Fox (2 games), NBC (1 game) or ESPN (1 game).

Patriots 2021 Season Preview
The release of veteran quarterback Cam Newton surprised many, but the move officially made it time for The Mac Jones Show in New England. It’s a move head coach Bill Belichick clearly felt was best for his team right now.
“He’s had a high level of production,” Belichick said about Jones heading into the season, per the team’s official website. “I feel like he’s been able to show an ability to do things the way we want them done at a productive level. He’s young. I’m sure he’ll continue to learn and grow. We’ll see where that goes, but that’s why we drafted him. I think he’s come in and performed at a level that supports that.”
New England lost stalwart guard Joe Thune this offseason via free agency, but it still has tackles Trent Brown and Isaiah Wynn along with David Andrews, Shaq Mason and Michael Onwenu, who together should form a rock solid offensive line in front of Jones.
The Patriots had the 27th ranked offense in the NFL last season when it came to points scored (20.4 a game) and they’re hoping Jones can lead them to a more prolific and efficient offense this season.
“We all want to play to that standard, ‘The Patriot Way,’ and it really comes down to just doing your job. As a quarterback, that’s leading the people around you as best I can and that’s also executing the play, so hand it off or throw it is how it comes down to,” Jones said this week.
The Pats were ranked 7th in the league last year in points allowed (22.1) and with All-Pro defensive back Stephon Gilmore out for at least the first six weeks, the team’s secondary could be hurting a bit. Much will fall on the shoulders of corner J.C. Jackson early. If he can perform well in Gilmore’s absence, there may not be much of a drop off on ‘D’ for New England this year.
Rookie Christian Barmore may be a solid contributor on the defensive line, and the linebacking corps of Dont’a Hightower, Kyle Van Noy and Matt Judon remains one of the best in the league.
