‘9-1-1’ Season 6b Preview
When we last saw the first responders of the 118 in Los Angeles made up of police and fire departments, paramedics and 9-1-1 operators, the Santa Ana winds blew up some trouble in the form of a teen blasting off his hand with fireworks; a haunted house repeatedly calling 9-1-1 on its own; and Bobby (Peter Krause) learning that his friend Wendall (Maurice J. Irvin) was killed in a fire. Bobby suspected that the founder of the rehab center they both attended was behind it.
Buck (Oliver Stark) also learned that Connor (Colin McCalla) and his wife Kameron (Chelsea Kane) are expecting a baby (Buck is the sperm donor), then later Denny (Declan Pratt) showed up at a man’s doorstep and told the man he thinks the man is his father.
When the show returns for the back half of the season, the season 6b premiere is titled “In A Flash” and its description reads, “A dry thunderstorm rolls over LA, bringing in a series of lightning strike emergencies for the 118 and leaves a first responder’s life hanging in the balance. Athena (Angela Bassett) and May (Corinne Massiah) go undercover at the rehab facility to help Bobby with his investigation into his sponsor’s mysterious death. Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) dreads her parents visit to her and Chimney’s (Kenneth Choi) new and unfinished house, while Chimney get a surprise of his own from a visiting Albert (John Harlan Kim) in the all-new ‘In A Flash’ winter premiere episode of ‘9-1-1.'”
In an “Entertainment Weekly” interview with executive producer Kristen Reidel after the midseason finale, the EP teased that the show is pure “craziness” when it returns.
“Craziness. When we come back, we’re going to be dealing with an unusual weather issue, which is basically thunder and lightning without rain — lightning that strikes out of nowhere and creates some emergencies,” Reidel told “Entertainment Weekly.” “Our 118 people will get caught up in that, and that will be our big start to the back half. And then for the rest of the season, we’re going to have some episodes like you would expect, and then we have some different things that we’ve never really done before. Hopefully there’ll be something for everyone.”
Reidel also teased, “In the back half of the season, as Bobby is kind of searching for the truths about what really happened to Wendall, we’ll get to see some of that relationship. We’ll get to see the two of them meet and we’ll get a sense of that relationship with Wendall meant to Bobby, and also to Athena. We’ll see Bobby and Athena — and a little bit of May — try and figure out what happened to Wendall, but also what’s going on at this facility that should be helping people but it seems like is maybe abusing them.”
“9-1-1” season 6b returns Monday, March 6 at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on FOX.
