Texas A&M comes into this year’s spring game with enormous expectations on the program.
The game (2 p.m. ET start time) isn’t on regular TV, but it will stream live on both SEC Network+ (this can be watched on the ESPN app or website if you have a cable package or streaming service that includes SEC Network) and ESPN+.

Texas A&M Spring Game 2022 Preview
Texas A&M faces huge expectations this year after landing a big recruiting class and beating national runner-up Alabama in 2021.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher recognizes that his program has acquired a ‘villain’ label because of its wild recruiting success. The Aggies landed the best recruiting class ever according to CBS Sports.
“I guess they haven’t done it as much,” Fisher said told the media on Tuesday, April 5. “Guess you have to get used to it, guess we have to keep doing it. We’ve been in the top four, five or six every year. Whatever they feel and say, I don’t worry about somebody else. Like I said before, all the things that went on, it had nothing to do with NIL…I think NIL and transfer portal is truly affecting college football, but that wasn’t the case with us.”
Texas A&M landed seven of the top 25 recruits in the nation overall this offseason. That includes five-star quarterback Conner Weigman and five-star receivers Evan Stewart and Chris Marshall. The Aggies also signed tight end Jake Johnson, cornerback Denver Harris, and defensive linemen Walter Nolen, Shemar Stewart, and Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy.
Despite Weigman coming in as a heralded quarterback, the Aggies haven’t settled on a signal-caller for 2022. Options include Haynes King, the 2021 starter who missed time due injury, LSU transfer Max Johnson, and Weigman.
“Can they go out there and keep their poise, get the play call, get the check, get the alignment, get the assignment, understand their techniques?” Fisher according to the Bryan College Station Eagle. “And not have pre-snap penalties and function within the offensive or defensive call that was made and then perform?”
Zach Calzada took most of the snaps last season for the Aggies. He threw for 2,185 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2021, and he helped the Aggies beat Alabama. Calzada transferred to Auburn after the season.
Texas A&M also has a void to fill at running back with Isaiah Spiller heading to the NFL Draft. Spiller had 1,011 yards and six touchdowns last season. Devon Achane, Amari Daniels, and L.J. Johnson look like the top candidates for more carries with the Aggies in 2022.
The Aggies defense will field a host of younger players in Bryce Anderson, Fadil Diggs, Josh Moten, Jardin Gilbert, Tummise Adeleye, and Harris. Texas A&M’s defense ranked third in the nation last year with 15.9 points allowed per game.
