Congressman Mike Rogers is one of the biggest advocates in the never-ending debate over cyber-security legislation and CISPA in particular. After CISPA, which stands for Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, was killed last year in Congress, Rogers brought back the CISPA bill, apparently with the support of the Obama administration, according to The Hill.
However, earlier today, Rogers accidentally sent out a tweet with the hashtag #CIPSAalert, which actually supports the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s efforts to fight CISPA.
There have been multiple cases of Rogers using the #CISPAalert hashtag. You can see some of them below:
#CISPA restricts the government to use cyber threat information for 5 specified purposes in the bill. #CISPAalert

#CISPA doesnt require anyone to provide anything to the government. All sharing of cyber threat information would be voluntary #CISPAalert

#CISPA holds the government liable for any intentional or willful violations of cyber threat information sharing. #CISPAalert

#CISPA is about protecting the Internet from foreign cyber attacks, not monitoring anyone’s email or personal information #CISPAalert

We’ve reached out to the congressman’s office but haven’t heard back yet. Stay tuned for an update.
