1. SXSW Interactive: March 7-11
SXSW Interactive will run from March 7-11. Notable tech events at this year’s festival will include a speech from Edward Snowden on March 10, a Playstation event called “PlayStation: Data at the Speed of Gaming” on March 7, and a book signing with Amy Webb, author of “Data, A Love Story: How I Gamed Online Dating to Meet My Match” on March 9.
There’s also a cool presentation on March 9 called “AI & Robotics: From the Labs to the Living Room.”
This year’s tech-related keynote speakers include Adam Savage, Chelsea Clinton, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
A documentary about Internet activist Aaron Schwarz will also be screening at SXSW. The documentary is called “The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz.”
2. SXSW Music: March 11-16
SXSW Music will run from March 11-16. The big music news out of SXSW this year is that 50 Cent will headline a live-streaming musical showcase on March 11.
The outdoor stage at Butler Park will host several concerts, including sets from Los Lonely Boys, Foster the People, Washed Out, and Childish Gambino.
The Radio Day stage will see acts like Tennis, Dum Dum Girls, and Phantogram.
3. SXSW Film: March 7-15
SXSW Film will run from March 7-15. Highlights of this year’s program include a talk by Robert Rodriguez & Diego Luna on March 11, as well as a talk by Nic Cage, who has a movie called “Joe” screening at SXSW.
Other films being screened this year include “Beyond Clueless” (a doc about the “teen movie” genre), “Doc of the Dead” (a zombie documentary), and “A Wolf at the Door,” a film about a kidnapped child in Rio de Janiero.
