When Does iOS 8 Come Out? Everything You Need to Know

You can download iOS 8 starting September 17. GottaBeMobile says that we can expect to see iOS getting pushed to devices around 10 in the morning, Pacific. That time could be subject to change, however. See the hidden features of iOS 8 in the video above.

Mac Rumors notes that “it may take a few minutes for the update to propagate to all users due to demand. In past years, Apple’s servers have been overwhelmed with traffic.”

The great video above from Bill Savage outlines the new messaging features in iOS 8.

Any iPhone from the 4S onward is compatible. The iPod Touch (5th gen.) is compatible with iOS 8. If you’re a tablet fan, all iPad variants will support iOS 8, with the exception of the original iPad. You will need to have 5.8GB free on your phone in order to download the update.

New features in iOS 8 will include enhanced integration with OS X Yosemite, including Handoff, which will let you start a task on your iPhone or iOS device, and then finish it on your computer (or vice versa.) Other cool new features in iOS 8 include a new health app, additional messaging features, and a new look for some apps.

The release of iOS 8 comes less than 48 hours before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be in the hands of consumers. The iPhone 6 sold 4 million units on its first day of preorders, according to Reuters.
