Leaked documents have indicated that the next James Bond film will put a Sony Xperia Z4 in the hand of the UK’s most famous spy. While this phone isn’t on the market yet, it could become a huge success when it does launch. Here’s everything you need to know about the hot new phone that James Bond might be using in the film Spectre, which is expected to open in October 2015.
1. Daniel Craig May Have Creative Input on the New Sony Xperia Phone
The film’s star, Daniel Craig, along with director Sam Mendes, may have some input on how the phone looks. The duo are pictured above at a recent press event. Details about the partnership between Sony and the makers of the new James Bond film came to light during the recent Sony email hack. According to PC Advisor, the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 may be featured in the film. It may be used by Bond himself, or by another character in the film, such as Q.
2. James Bond Used a Sony Xperia Phone in ‘Skyfall’
Over the years, Bond has used many different cell phones. Perhaps most memorably, Bond used a Sony Xperia T in Skyfall. In the film, Bond receives a text message on the phone while at a bar in Shanghai. Sony released a special “Skyfall” edition of the phone, a strategy the company could leverage again during the lead up to the next Bond film.
3. Aston Martin Will Also Get Product Placement in the New Bond Movie
Above, you can see the Aston Martin DB10 that will be featured in the next James Bond flick. The new car will be made in a limited run of ten, according to Car and Driver.
Bond has been an Aston Martin man off and on for years. However, in earlier films in the franchise, James Bond has been seen driving cars like the Alfa Romeo GTV6, Audi A6, and even an AMC Hornet.
4. The ‘Spectre’ Script Is Troubled
While there will be lots of cool products featured in the movie, at least one prominent website has raised issues about the quality of the script for the new Bond movie. Defamer, a Gawker site, writes that a leaked version of the script has an “awful ending.” Here are some additional details (some spoilers ahead):
“The problems seem to start when Bond meets the villain, a mysterious man named Heinrich Stockmann, who also uses the alias Franz Oberhauser, played by Christoph Waltz. In an irritating expository monologue, Stockmann confesses over dinner that he is Bond’s older foster-brother and also the head of a terrorist organization named Spectre. Bond is tortured; and then for unclear reasons manages to bluff Stockmann into rushing back to London…
As a result, the film has a boring and uneventful third act that, according to some executives, barely even makes sense.”
5. There May Be Multiple Sony Xperia Z4 Variants
Phone Arena notes that there may be two variants of the Z4, with release states staggered a few months apart. The phones might debut in May and November of 2015. It is possible that one of those phones might be a “Special Edition” model tied to the Bond franchise.
