Since its inception, Google Plus has had a hard time making an impact in the social media world, and now the company is finally giving up on the failed endeavor. Google Exec Brad Horowitz talked about killing the project.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. The Service Was Created 4 Years Ago
Google + was first introduced as a way to connect with friends and family and also use it as a search engine.
2. Google Made Users Sign up for an Account in 2013
To upload or comment on videos on YouTube you had to use a Google+ log in, which frustrated a lot of people who said they wouldn’t use the account for anything else.
3. Horowitz Admitted That the Site Is Confusing
One of the biggest problems with Google+ is that it isn’t intuitive and that makes it hard to use. The Google exec agreed that it can be incredibly confusing.
4. You no Longer Need a G+ Account to Use Certain Google Services
The first thing that is going to be changed is that you can access things like YouTube and Google Photo with just a gmail account, something most people have.
5. It May Be Used to Connect People in Certain Groups
Google+ may survive but it will most likely just be a way to connect with other people of similar interests like an online hobby chat room.
