Dr. Dre announced today that his first album in 16 years will only be available on Apple Music. This isn’t a huge surprised since Apple just purchased Dre’s company Beats and gave him a senior role in the company.
However, it is a huge get for the fledgling music app. The album, which comes out Friday, is set to go along with the premiere of Straight Outta Compton a week later. The movie follows the lives of the rap group N.W.A. that Dre was a part of.
You can try out Apple Music for free for three months, but if that’s too much commitment for you, the company is streaming the album for free from 9 p.m to midnight eastern time on Thursday. After that it will be available to Apple Music users for the time being.
