http://youtu.be/qNZerRShJsY

22-year-old heartthrob Miguel Dakota made girls around the country swoon earlier this season on ‘America’s Got Talent’ with his rendition of Alex Clare’s “Too Close”. He may be working different construction jobs to support his family, but the young singer is bound to go “real far” in this competition, according to Howard Stern. Dakota was featured tonight, live, at Radio City, where he sung a Beatles original.

Here’s what you need to know about the singer.

1. He Quit College to Support His Family

In the interview before his first performance, the Colorado musician says he helps out his single mother and three brothers and sisters by working different construction jobs. He then says, a little timidly, that his dad doesn’t live with the family anymore.

His parents gave him a guitar for his eleventh birthday, and after that, he wouldn’t put the instrument down. He told KOAA,

Ever since then, I’ve been in love with music and just how you can evoke emotion through music and connect with a crowd.

He describes his family as being the backbone to his music.

2. He’s Single

After his performance, Mel B asks, “Do you have a girlfriend?” to which Miguel simply responds “No.” The kid definitely proved he has the whole package. Howie told him he’s probably not going to be working much construction after his audition, and the rest of America certainly seemed to agree.

Oh, I should add on that he can cook and loves his mother. What’s not to like?

3. He’s Jaycob Curlee’s Biggest Competition

Jaycob appeared in last week’s premiere episode of the show and was a huge hit. Curlee has been in foster care since age 5 and describes his childhood as being rough. His parents were both former convicts, but his adoptive parents who took him in at age 8 are a godsend. Curlee sang a rendition of John Mayer’s “Waiting for the World to Change”. The crowd responded to the performance with a standing ovation that sent both him and his mom into a fit of sobs. This made it all the more touching when Mel B ran up on stage to hug him.

4. Simon Cowell Thinks He’ll Be a Star

The day after he performed on AGT, Simon tweeted about the rising star, promising fans (and girls) everywhere that the singer is destined for stardom.

Cowell is the executive producer of America’s Got Talent, which debuted in June 2006. He doesn’t judge the show because of his contract with Fox, but constantly promotes those he thinks will be big on his Twitter page.

5. His Band’s Name is Spiral Lion

The band created its Facebook page on April 16.

Spiral Lion combines the early years of blues, rock, and funk, with an alternative and contemporary feel to the sound.

They’re influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bill Withers, and the Arctic Monkeys. As of now, the group has 380 likes.

Miguel’s personal youtube account features several videos where he’s singing original music. Heidi was right– he does have a sexy voice.
