LISTEN: Bill Cosby Makes Date Rape Joke in Stand-Up Segment

Amid new rape accusations against Bill Cosby, The Village Voice found a 1969 routine of the comedian’s where he jokes about drugging women’s drinks.

And eerily enough, it falls in-line with the stories Cosby’s accusers tell. According The Village Voice:

Cosby’s dozen-plus accusers tell similar stories: that, after having a drink with Cosby, they felt drugged and confused as he had his way with them.

In the above clip about date rape from Cosby’s album titled It’s True! It’s True!, Cosby jokes about “Spanish fly.”

Spanish fly is a species of blister beetles that have aphrodisiac qualities when ingested. The American Journal of Emergency Medicine states that “cantharidin, known popularly as Spanish fly, has been used for millennia as a sexual stimulant.” When it is ingested, it is considered a poison.

Cosby has yet to comment on this latest find.
