Katie Maloney and boyfriend Tom Schwartz have had their ups and downs over the years, especially on the reality show Vanderpump Rules. Read on for the facts on the dysfunctional duo we love to watch on the Bravo network.
1. Katie Has Been Hoping to Get Married Soon

Katie and Tom are each actor/models who are paying the bills with server careers … well, more Katie than Tom. Katie is hoping to get married, but Tom says they need to be financially stable. Bravo writes:
Tom Schwartz is in a loving, seemingly stable relationship with girlfriend Katie. But she’s feeling the ticking of her biological clock and he just isn’t quite ready to settle down.
The couple has been together for several years and Katie would like to become Mrs. Schwartz.
2. Both Of Them Are Plagued By Cheating Allegations This Season

This season on Vanderpump Rules, fellow cast member Jax Taylor, who is known for lying, accuses Katie of cheating on Tom and says there were multiple witnesses. At the same time, Tom is put into the fire later this season as he’s hit with cheating allegations as well. Bravo reported:
Schwartz finds himself at the center of numerous incriminating rumors that may ruin his longstanding relationship … Katie finds herself dealing with rumors of Schwartz’s infidelity. This is the biggest crisis Katie has ever faced with her boyfriend and she has to figure out if she can fix her relationship without losing it forever.
As far as what Katie had to say about the cheating rumors overall, she told Fashion N Style:
I don’t want to say too much but there are some pretty scandalous rumors that begin to surface surrounding Tom and myself so that really sends us on a bit of a rollercoaster. Our relationship was really, really tested this summer. I don’t know if I am getting more screen time this season but Tom and I and are storyline is at the forefront for sure.
Tom, on the other hand, told Zap2it:
I was a bad boy this season. I wasn’t like a Jax, but I was my version of a Jax. … I lost sight of myself a little bit this season. I think at one point I was really taking our relationship for granted. Everything that happens was a good wake up call for me. I think we want the same things, it’s just when we want them that seems to be a big issue.
3. Things Got Physical Between Them Last Year

When Katie and Tom were celebrating Stassi Schroeder’s birthday in Mexico last year, Katie became angry at Tom for sharing their drinks with cast-mate Scheana Jancan, who the girls were not getting along with. Katie and Tom were both drunk and the situation got heated. Unfortunately, Tom took it too far and threw his drink in Katie’s face. The altercation almost cost the two of them their relationship, but Katie forgave Tom.
4. Katie Set Tom Up For Jobs Twice And He Blew Them Both

Last year, Tom had a job lined up to work at SUR restaurant, where Katie and the other Vanderpump Rules cast-mates work. However, he got into a fight at Scheana’s birthday and his job went bye bye. This season, Tom again gets in a fight at Scheana’s birthday, but he was mainly just trying to break up a fight between his friend and a co-worker. While boss Lisa Vanderpump was ready to kill Tom’s chances of working at her new restaurant PUMP because of the fight, Katie pleaded with her to hear Tom’s side of the story. Vanderpump let the situation slide and hired Tom as a bartender at PUMP. After barely working at PUMP, Tom left in the middle of one of his shifts, claiming to have a panic attack. This devastated Katie, making her feel stupid for sticking her neck out to get him the job.
5. Fans Are Not Shy About Their Opinions On the Couple

Like all reality shows, viewers have strong opinions about the people’s lives they are watching. As for how fans feel about Katie and Tom’s dating, Katie dishes on how viewers react to their rocky relationship:
It’s always the same thing with them. They’re very excited and offer opinions like “Your boyfriend is a really big asshole and you should break up with him immediately.” It’s funny they are offering their “expert” advice. People think they know everything that’s going on when they really don’t. I just kind of smile and nod when they say things like that.
She continues:
There’s something that’s unique and special about our show in that they can come in to SUR, but it’s a source of anxiety for myself. Anyone can just walk in there. It’s hard to when you have a job to do so you can’t talk to someone for 45 minutes about what they think about what has happened in the past two years. People always have theories and hypothesis they want to share.
