Jughead doesn’t want a birthday party, but he’s going to get one anyway in the latest episode of The CW’s Riverdale. The 10th episode of the first season also marks the debut of Molly Ringwald on the show as Archie’s mom. Read on for a preview and the trailer of “Chapter Ten: The Lost Weekend.”

In the previous episode, “Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion,” Archie was tempted by Cheryl and the Blossoms. They told him they could get him into a good music school for summer classes if they accompanied Cheryl to a maple tree tapping ceremony. After some soul searching, Archie finally decided that he just couldn’t do it.

Meanwhile, Veronica tried to help Ethel Muggs get out of the doldrums, only to learn that her father is the reason for the Muggs’ misery. There was also a dramatic change in the relationship between Fred and Hermione after she came forward to tell him that the Lodges were the ones who bought the land he’s now building on.

The episode ended with Archie telling Betty and Jughead that he overheard a conversation that makes him think Cheryl’s dad Clifford helped send Veronica’s father Hiram to jail. This suddenly Hiram Lodge a motive to kill Jason Blossom!

In “The Lost weekend,” Fred tries to finalize his divorce from Archie’s mom Mary, while Archie tries to prove to Valerie that he still cares for her. In the middle of all this, Archie tries to throw Jughead a birthday party. Hasn’t anyone on this show learned that nothing good happens at a party?

The title “The Lost Weekend” refers to the acclaimed 1945 Billy Wilder film based on the Charles R. Jackson novel about an alcoholic. The film won four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Ray Milland.
