‘The Walking Dead’ Midseason Finale: What Time & Channel Does It Air Tonight?

AMC

It’s hard to believe that we’re already heading into the midseason finale for The Walking Dead. Season 8 Episode 8, “How It’s Gotta Be,” airs tonight and it’s going to be an extra long episode, clocking in at 88 minutes. So set your DVRs accordingly if you’re not watching live. AMC has also been teasing that we may lose an important character tonight, and fans are worried about who that might be. Read on below for more details on the Season 8 midseason finale.

The midseason finale airs tonight — Sunday, December 10 — at 9 p.m Eastern (8 p.m. Central.) The supersized episode is going to be an extra 28 minutes long, so it will be ending at 10:38 p.m. Eastern (9:38 p.m. Central.) Tonight’s episode will be 88 minutes long total, and Talking Dead will immediately follow, lasting one hour. The official synopsis for tonight’s episode reads: “Every story and battle from the first half of the season comes crashing together in this action-packed, emotional mid-season finale.” It sounds like we’ll finally be getting that all-out war between Negan and Rick. We’ve also heard some disturbing rumors that an important character might be dying tonight. Of course, we have no way to know if these rumors are accurate or not — fans have certainly been tricked about these things before.

Last week, Tara, Daryl, and Morgan ruined Rick’s plans to bring The Scavengers (aka the Junkyard people) into the war. But was Rick’s plan really that sound? The Scavengers already betrayed Rick in a previous battle with Negan, and it seems seriously unwise to even consider trusting them ever again. Better to take their guns, defeat them, and then move on. But Rick wanted to convince them to join their side by showing the Sanctuary surrounded by walkers, and unfortunately Daryl kind of ruined that idea.

If someone does die, there’s really no telling who it could be. Fans generally think that Rick and Carl are safe, but everyone else is a possibility. Morgan, Daryl, or Tara might be gone. Maggie could be taken out, but it seems like there are too many stories to tell with her pregnancy to let that happen. Michonne might be in danger, or Eugene as he cozies up to Negan. We haven’t seen much of Judith lately, so if the producers really wanted to go dark, maybe they’d get rid of her. Enid or Rosita are also possibilities. Who do you think we might be saying goodbye to tonight, or do you think everyone will make it out alive?
