Well, it’s official — the New England Patriots will be taking on the Seattle Seahawks for Super Bowl XLIX. It’s definitely going to be a match-up for the ages, and there’s no way of knowing who will win Super Bowl 49 for sure. But, one thing we’ve learned in the past is that if you want to get a general feel for who is going to win the Super Bowl, you should power up the latest installment of the Madden video game franchise and run some sims, which is exactly what we have done.
Want to know just how accurate the Madden Super Bowl simulations are? EA’s Madden has correctly picked the winner eight times in the past 11 years, although last year’s Madden 25 wrongfully chose the Broncos to beat the Seahawks in Super Bowl 48. Still, predicting the Super Bowl correctly 72 percent of the time is not too shabby.
What we’ve done here is run 10 simulations of the New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks on the Xbox One version of Electronic Arts’ Madden 15, with the latest roster update and in the Super Bowl Event Type (not exhibition). You can also check out the official odds here.

So, there you have it, folks — Madden 15 is predicting that the New England Patriots will win Super Bowl 49, with Tom Brady averaging 394 yards in his wins.
**Update 1/26/15: It looks like EA’s official simulation (which by the way, is over a week after we ran ours) has also predicted that the New England Patriots will win Super Bowl XXIX.
