A Talladega fan favorite is also the race favorite when the Sprint Cup Series comes to the superspeedway in Alabama for this weekend’s Geico 500.
The sportsbooks have Dale Earnhardt Jr. at 17/2 odds for Sunday’s restrictor plate race. Earnhardt dominated the track in the early 2000s, but has not had a top 10 finish in the Talladega spring race (formerly known as the Aaron’s 499) since 2012, when he placed 9th.
Last week’s Toyota 400 winner Kurt Busch and season points leader Kevin Harvick are behind Junior at 11/2.
2014 race winner Denny Hamlin is among a group of 6 drivers with 12/1 odds.
