Joey Logano will start from the pole in this weekend’s Sprint Cup Series SpongeBob SquarePants 400 from Kansas Speedway.
The Daytona 500 winner sped around the 1.5-mile track in Kansas City, Kansas, at 192.397 miles per hour to grab the top spot in Friday’s knockout-style qualifying. It was Logano’s 4th pole of the season.
Joining Logano in the front row will be Kasey Kahne, who clocked in at 191.911 mph.
The 5-year-old race, last year known as the 5-Hour Energy 400, is set for Saturday night. It will be televised by FOX Sports 1 and the green flag is set to wave at approximately 7:46 p.m. Eastern.
Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr. and Carl Edwards round out the top 5 starting positions.
Defending champion Jeff Gordon will start 11th and last year’s runner-up, Kevin Harvick, will begin 6th.
The SpongeBob 400 is the last race before the All-Star weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 15-16.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is coming off his first win of the season, a victory last weekend in the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, and will look to carry momentum into Saturday night’s race. He’ll start 17th.
