Sure, there are plenty of things to talk about when it comes to the Washington Redskins and the start of the 2015 football season. And there’s Robert Griffin III.
The embattled quarterback comes into training camp as the Redskins starter but there are plenty, including maybe even coach Jay Gruden, who question whether he deserves the job and Griffin faces an uphill battle to hold onto his spot under center. The former Baylor standout, coming off two less-than-productive seasons in Washington, will need to prove he’s worthy of the $16.2 million option the Redskins picked up in 2016 and it starts in camp.
Still, there is hope for the Redskins outside of Griffin and after an overhaul on the defensive side of the ball that includes a brand-new coordinator, Washington and Gruden have been spouting preseason confidences for weeks.
