It’s only been one week, but both the San Diego Chargers (1-0) and Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) look to be in midseason form.

The Bengals made easy work of Oakland in their opener, out-gaining the Raiders 396-246 in a 33-13 romp. Third-year tight end Tyler Eifert looked unstoppable, giving this offense yet another weapon at a skill position, the defense forced two turnovers and the Bengals had a 33-0 lead before finally calling off the dogs.

It wasn’t nearly as comprehensive of an effort from San Diego, which committed three turnovers and had to erase an early 21-3 deficit against the Detroit Lions. But the offense was very good outside of those mistakes, gaining 483 yards to squeak out the 33-28 win. Philip Rivers had just seven incompletions on 42 attempts, and the Chargers’ 6.5 yards per play was third best in the NFL in Week 1.

When these teams met in January during the wild-card round of the playoffs, San Diego forced four turnovers and came out on top, but the oddsmakers favor Cincinnati in the rematch.
