Is Lamar Miller Playing Week 3 vs. the Bills?

In a league where workhorse running backs are dwindling, fantasy owners were counting heavily on Lamar Miller to carry the majority of touches in Miami.

That plan has failed two-fold.

First, there aren’t that many touches to begin with. Miami has rushed the ball just 34 times this season, and is 30th in the NFL with 116 rushing yards after two weeks.

Second, Miller is currently nursing an ankle injury. He’s been playing through it, but has looked sluggish and is clearly hurting. To complicate the matter, backup Damien Williams made a nice play last week against Jacksonville, making a catch out of the backfield for Miami’s second touchdown.

From a coaching perspective, it would be best to go easy on Miller this week, especially against a stout Buffalo front. Miller practiced on Thursday, however, and looks like he will play today.

From a fantasy perspective, even if Miller was healthy, Buffalo’s defense presents a tough challenge for any RB. I’d stay away from Miami backs this week, and give one of your backups a chance to step up. If necessary, Miller is a low-end RB2.
