What happened to Colin Kaepernick?
The San Francisco 49ers is struggling. Badly. In fact, the entire team is struggling. Badly.
The same team that, just a few seasons ago, were perennial Super Bowl favorites is fledgling at best and rumors are already swirling that Kaepernick should be benched. In four games this year Kaepernick has throw for 727 total yards, completing 62.1 percent of his passes and finding the end zone just two times. He’s also been sacked a whopping 14 times.
Still, despite the struggles, 49ers coach Jim Tomsula said he wouldn’t even consider starting Blaine Gabbert over Gabbert telling reports it was “not on my mind.”
Kaepernick’s accuracy has been under scrutiny throughout the early stages of his career and it will be tested once again this week as he takes on a New York Giants defense that is, finally, starting to find its footing and its attack.

Two weeks ago, the New York Giants season was over.
Big Blue was 0-2, giving up two straight double-digit leads in the fourth quarter. They were the laughing stock of New York media, prime targets for tabloid backpages and TV hot takes.
Things are different now.
The Giants are 2-2 and it might be time to give the New York defense a good chunk of credit. The team forced two major turnovers in last week’s victory over the Buffalo Bills and are finding a way to succeed even without big name talent on the field.
Prince Amukamara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie have the secondary playing well, Landon Collins is finding his rookie-footing and a hodge-podge defensive line is starting to bring consistent pressure.
“That’s the mark of a great team. It’s the unusual suspects,” linebacker Jon Beason said. “That’s the way you want to play. To see [Thomas] go out there and make that play. Before that, it was Landon Collins, Kerry Wynn.”
If these “no-name” guys can keep bringing the hits and forcing turnovers, the Giants season could be on the up-swing as quickly as it was reportedly over.
