WWE Survivor Series 2015: Reactions & Review

WWE Survivor Series 2015

Here’s our final review of WWE Survivor Series 2015!

The Miz, Bo Dallas, Stardust and The Ascension vs. Neville, The Dudley Boyz, Titus O’Neil and Goldust (5 on 5 Traditional Survivor Series Match)

Reactions: A traditional Survivor Series match starting on the Kickoff portion of the event it’s named after? YEP! That’s kind of a surprise to us and plenty of other WWE fans. The biggest moment of this match happened before it even took place – Goldust made his surprise return! This 5 on 5 match was a fun affair. While it wasn’t entirely amazing, it was still an entertaining match to behold. Every man in this match showed up with an extra pep in their step, which made this elimination tag a bit more hype than your usual RAW tag match. This was an okay contest, but nothing that will show up on anyone’s list for best traditional Survivor Series matches.

Rating: 2 & a Half out of 5 Stars

Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio (Tournament Semi-Final Match for The Vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Reactions: This was much better than we expected it to be. Reigns once again proved that he has the skills to take on the reigns (no pun intended) as WWE’s new top Superstar. Rio is always game for a great match and he performed at his best here. While things started slow, the match picked up its pace when Reigns made a comeback. Reigns made it a habit to showcase his amazing strength by dead lifting Rio several times. Rio pulled out every move in his arsenal and looked like he may go on to the finals of the tournament. However, it was Reigns who finished off Rio in fine fashion with a debilitating Spear. This was a fine match to start off the show.

Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose (Tournament Semi-Final Match for The Vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Reactions: WHAT A MATCH! Now this is what should have opened the evening’s tournament affair. Owens and Ambrose put on a barn buster (shout out to Good Ol’ JR) of a match here. There was a great exchange of counters throughout as they fought to enter the finals for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Ambrose and Owens had the crowd on their side as the match broke down into complete madness. Ambrose almost lost his chance at the title on several occasions, such as when Owens landed his Super Fisherman Suplex off the top rope. Ambrose eventually prevailed after countering Owens’ Pop Up Powerbomb several times and finally planting him with his Dirty Deeds. This was an enjoyable matchup full of surprising counters and a breakneck pace that never once slowed down.

Rating: 3 & a Half out of 5 Stars

Ryback, The Lucha Dragons and The Usos vs. The New Day, Sheamus and Wade Barrett (5 on 5 Traditional Survivor Series Match)

Reactions: Well will you look at that! We got a 2nd traditional Survivor Series tag team elimination contest! The New Day pulled off their usual and always welcome pre-match promo. We got a good chuckle out of watching Barrett and Sheamus staying in the groove as The New Day’s theme played. Sheamus lost so many cool point for saying jiggy in 2015, though. Anyways, the match was pretty good overall. Since they’re were so many high-flyers present, we got a ton of exciting planchas and crazy tag team specials. The Lucha Dragons and The Usos really brought out the best in this match. The closing moments were the least exciting of it all since it mainly involved the biggest men (Ryback and Sheamus). That put a damper on all the fun stuff that happened before (The New Day leaving early sucked, too). All in all though, this was the better of the two elimination matches of the entire evening. That’s not really saying much, to be honest…
