Barcelona’s eight-game wining streak across all competitions ended last weekend during a 1-1 against Valencia, a performance that was repeated just a few days later against Leverkusen.
The dip into mediocrity is a change of pace for Barcelona, who have been so thoroughly dominant for most of this year. Now the club wants to turn their momentum around today against Deportivo, in advance of their trip to Japan for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Deportivo have been no slouch this year, currently sitting in sixth place in the La Liga. In fact, Deportivo was the last team to go into Camp Nou and get a positive result, when the teams settled for a 2-2 draw on the final day of last season.
Barcelona will have to play without Neymar, who is still sidelined with a groin injury. That could pave the way for 20-year old Munir El Haddad to get some much-needed experience heading into 2016.
