Every year, boxing fans look forward to Cinco de Mayo weekend, as it typically plays host to the biggest draw in boxing.
That has been Floyd Mayweather’s role in years past, but with “Money” no longer in commission, new middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is set to become the sport’s brightest star, as he takes on Amir Khan in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Even without Mayweather’s undoubted allure, this has the makings of the most compelling bout of the year. Both fighters are young and exciting. Canelo has been dominant his entire career with the exception of a loss to Mayweather, while Khan is a bit more polarizing but has shown marked improvement as of late. Canelo has power, and Khan, who’s moving up two weight classes for this fight, has speed.
Boxing fans have been waiting not-so-patiently for this one. So, when’s it scheduled to begin?
