UPDATE: With Washington booking a spot in the playoffs and Penn State jumping Michigan in the final rankings, the 2017 Rose Bowl matchup will be Penn State vs. USC.
We’re only a couple of days away from the conclusion of the college football regular season, and it’s still anyone’s guess who will be playing in the Rose Bowl.
“The Granddaddy of Them All” typically pits the Big Ten and Pac-12 winners against each other, but that could get somewhat complicated this year, as Washington figures to go to the playoffs should it beat Colorado in the Pac-12 championship, while the winner of Saturday’s Big Ten title game between Penn State and Wisconsin also has an outside shot of clinching a spot in the semifinal.
Ultimately, it could potentially be Colorado or USC representing the Pac-12, while Michigan, Penn State or Wisconsin could conceivably make it on the other side.
There are a lot of different scenarios, and the messy situation won’t be cleaned up until Sunday when the bowls are announced, but for now, here’s a complete look at everything you need to know about the game itself:
