Manchester City have been narrowing their focus recently, but will still field a formidable lineup for today’s League Cup final at Wembley. That should include captain Vincent Kompany, whose mere presence makes a drastic impact on City’s chances.
Manchester City have won 67 percent of their matches with Kompany in the starting lineup. Without the Belgian featured, City’s chances drop to 59 percent. City have struggled during a difficult stretch of fixtures, but looked in control during Champions League action with Dynamo Kiev earlier this week. Liverpool also succeeded in Europe, but needed to hold on after an early penalty advantage to overcome Augsburg.
With Daniel Sturridge back in the starting lineup, Liverpool’s injury woes are beginning to turn around. Joe Allen, Adam Lallana and Martin Skrtel have all returned to training, and Dejan Lovren should be eligible after recovering from illness earlier this week.
