Manchester City and Liverpool renew their recent rivalry today, but for the first time ever in a Cup final. Liverpool will be playing in their record 12th Cup final, having won most recently in 2012. Manuel Pellegrini won the Cup with City in his first season as manager, and now has a chance to add another in his final campaign.
Liverpool have had a good record against City in Cup competition, last losing a fixture in 1973. And although Klopp’s side defeated City at the Etihad 4-1 back in November, that City squad was without several key players involved today, including Vincent Kompany and David Silva.
