Flying Lotus has made quite a name for himself as a producer the past few years in the hip-hop community. Not only has he seen success with his own music, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard charts with his last album in 2014, he’s produced tracks for esteemed artists that include Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, and Thundercat.

That reputation as a great producer only goes so far for FlyLo, however, and he took to Twitter to rant about rappers taking advantage of producers, using their beats and getting rich off the songs while people behind the scenes suffer in obscurity and poverty. He even said a lot of rap artists are “rape artists,” which some on Twitter felt was unnecessary and offensive.

One rapper Flying Lotus took to task in particular was Future, who he believes is secondary to his own music compared to producer Metro Boomin. He ended the rant with links to videos indicative of his outrage.
