The New England Patriots are Super Bowl champions for the fifth time in franchise history, and they did it in quite possibly the most dramatic way possible.
New England came back from a 21-0 first-half deficit to win Super Bowl 51 in overtime against the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28. The organization celebrated on the field at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas following the game, but the festivities aren’t even close to over yet.
The Patriots will take the Lombardi Trophy back to Foxboro and join in celebrating with its fans on the streets in a victory parade.
Here’s all the details you need to know about the championship parade celebration:
Patriots Victory Parade
Date: Tuesday, February 7, 2017
Time: 11 a.m. Eastern
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
TV Information: NFL Network, 7News Boston WHDH
The weather during the parade calls for a mix of rain and snow with a high of 37 degrees and a low of 34, AccuWeather forecasts.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh released an official statement following the game, which said:
Congratulations to the greatest team, the greatest coach, and the greatest quarterback of all time for winning their fifth Super Bowl victory in Houston. The Patriots have made Boston and New England proud — fire up the duck boats!
The last victory parade held in Boston was in 2015 when the Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49. The organization used “duck boats” from the city to transport members of the organization around on the streets of Boston in front of its joyous fans.
In that celebration, Boston officials declined to give a headcount of the parade, but Walsh told the Boston Globe that attendance was about 1 million people. It figures to be around the same number the fifth time, too.
