Nike Dumps Lance Armstrong; Fraud Steps Down as Livestrong Chairman

Nike finally got with the program today and dumped Lance Armstrong — cutting ties with the disgraced cyclist whose team the footwear giant sponsored for years.

Recent developments have cemented Lance’s legacy as the greatest fraud in cycling history, a far fall from his heyday as the seven-time Tour de France victor.

In August he was stripped of his seven Tour de France Titles, and last week a damning report from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency put the final nails in the coffin of Armstrong’s legacy.

Nike was left with no choice. It’s not like he just pulled a Tiger Woods and banged a bunch of skanks. What Lance did makes all of his athletic accomplishments bullsh*t.

The company released this statement:

Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.

Meanwhile, Armstrong has stepped down as chairman of Livestrong, the cancer charity — famed for those yellow rubber bracelets — built on his miraculous triumph over testicular cancer and subsequent dominance of the cycling world.
