Beyonce and Jay-Z recently attended a rally for Trayvon Martin in protest of Stand Your Ground laws.

The event was held in Manhattan on Saturday, July 20, and the couple made a special trip down just to support Trayvon’s cause, according to Power1051fm.com.

Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, even got to meet both of the hip-hop stars and was seen snapping photos with them.

Civil rights icon Reverend Al Sharpton also attended, making a special announcement to honor Beyonce and Jay-Z’s presence, saying “two of the baddest artists that’s ever been” were there. Later on, according to the source, Jay-Z’s song “Empire State of Mind” played at the final moments of the event.

Jay-Z also reportedly joined Stevie Wonder’s Florida boycott, according to a Huffington Post report, taking Stevie’s pledge not to perform in any state that still holds the Stand Your Ground law. That report was later discredited, but for those of you who missed it here’s what Stevie said during a recent concert in Quebec City, reported by CNN:

I decided today that until the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again. As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world. The truth is that – for those of you who’ve lost in the battle for justice, wherever that fits in any part of the world – we can’t bring them back. What we can do is we can let our voices be heard. And we can vote in our various countries throughout the world for change and equality for everybody. That’s what I know we can do.
