We all know him as the tough judge on America’s Got Talent, but Howard Stern has more skills than meets the eye. The celebrity DJ graduated magna cum laude from Boston University in 1976, and he’s a martial arts expert. Read on to find out more about the mysterious judge. You may be surprised by what you learn.
1. He’s Had Liposuction on His Chin
In 2006, Stern admitted to having “body issues”, like the rest of us. So far, he’s had a facelift, nose job and liposuction. Stern wanted to remove the fat from his chin but hoped to
keep the surgery under wraps because he thought it would seem “very gay.”
2. He’s Married to a Model
Forty-one-year-old Beth Ostrosky has been Stern’s wife since 2008. She moved to NYC during high school to pursue an already-successful modeling career and was soon cast in her first film, Flirting with Disaster, as Ben Stiller’s daughter.
She later starred in the movie Whipped, alongside Amanda Peet.
3. He Has a Brown Belt in Karate
Stern is a brown belt in Japanese Shotokan karate. He’s also really into meditation, probably to help combat his OCD.
4. He Ran for Governor of New York
In 1994, Stern ran for the governor of New York. Clearly, he didn’t win and removed himself from the ballot, though he backed George Pataki, who ended up winning the election. Stern did have one success in the political world, though: The “Howard Stern Bill” was passed in 1995, which restricted road construction in NYC to nighttime hours. He ran under the Libertarian Party ticket, and was the butt of many jokes throughout the election process.
5. He Earns $274,725 a Day From Sirius XM
Stern has his own Sirius XM radio station called Howard 100. According to Askmen, he made $302 million in 2006 alone. Sirius paid him a $225 million bonus for “meeting subscription benchmarks.” The self proclaimed King of All Media was #45 on Forbes as of June 2013. His interest in being a DJ started at age 5.
Stern has a reported net worth of $500 million.
