Samsung is hard at work on the Samsung Galaxy S6, the successor to the current generation Galaxy S5 smartphone. The S5 is Samsung’s flagship smartphone, and it is expected that the S6 will have enhanced specs, new features, and a killer design. While details are sketchy, there are some interesting facts and rumors floating around about this upcoming smartphone. Here’s what you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S6.

1. Samsung’s Code Name for the Galaxy S6 Is ‘Project Zero’

Samsung is reportedly building their new flagship smartphone from scratch, which explains the logic behind the code name “Project Zero.” Samsung has a history of referring to its smartphones with code names during the early development process.

For example, the Galaxy S5 was known internally as Project K. Project T was the code name for the Galaxy Note 4.

2. The Galaxy S6’s Specs Could Include a 20MP Camera & 4K Display

Check out a S6 video concept in the player above, which showcases what a Galaxy S6 with a 3D camera might look like.

According to a report on Firstpost, the S6’s specs are going to be a nice step up from what the S5 offers. Expected S6 specs include a 20MP camera (4MP more than the S5) and a 4000mAH lithium ion battery (a big improvement over the S5’s 2800mAH battery). Additional specs on the Samsung Galaxy S6 include a 4K display, and the ability to record 4K video. The new Galaxy S6 is expected to run on Android Lollipop.

3. The Galaxy S6 Will Likely Debut at MWC 2015

The Samsung Galaxy S5 made its debut at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona earlier this year. It seems reasonable that Samsung would use an Unpacked event at MWC 2015 to show off their new phone.

That being said, Samsung doesn’t always debut their new phones at MWC. For example, Samsung did not unveil the Galaxy S4 at Mobile World Congress 2013. Instead, they revealed the phone at a separate Unpacked event a few weeks after MWC wrapped up. With Samsung building the S6 from the ground up, it is possible that the phone won’t be ready to unveil until March or April of next year.

4. The Galaxy S6 Might Not Have a 16GB Model

According to GSM Arena, there are some rumors floating around that the new Galaxy S6 will ditch the 16GB storage option as the base model. Instead, the entry-level version of the S6 is likely to start at 32GB.

The Galaxy S6 is also expected to have 64GB or 128GB options as well. You can add even more storage with an optional microSD expansion.

5. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Is Expected to Have a Metal Body

While it is by no means certain, many tech insiders are predicting that the Galaxy S6 will have a metal unibody, or at least a chassis that has some metal on it. Here’s what TechRadar thinks about the possibility of a metal S6:

“While we don’t know what the Galaxy S6 will look like there’s every chance that Samsung will mold it on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, which launched with a metal frame but still kept hold of the polycarbonate rear from the Galaxy S5…

A metal frame would finally make Samsung’s flagship look almost as premium as it is and it’s hard to imagine that it wouldn’t roll something similar or at least similarly high end out for its flagship, especially as the Galaxy Note 4 has now arrived with a metal frame too.”
