Legendary actress Lauren Bacall has died at the age of 89, according to the Bogart Estate. The sultry, blonde siren of the screen, passed away at her home on August 12.

The heroic actress passed away on August 12, just a day after fellow legend Robin Williams. According to TMZ, the actress suffered a massive stroke. She died at her home.
2. Her Marriage to Humphrey Bogart Was the Pinnacle of the Golden Age of Hollywood
Throughout her career, Bacall’s personal relationships were as famous as her acting skills. Her marriage to Humphrey Bogart was one of Hollywood’s early real love stories. Bacall and Bogie were married in 1945 until his death in 1957. While married the pair starred in three movies together, The Big Sleep, Dark Passage and Key Largo.
She then married another legend, Jason Robards, in 1961, they divorced in 1969. His drinking problems were a major factor in their parting.
3. She Was Described as Being a ‘Poor Little Jewish Girl’
Bacall was a native of The Bronx in New York City. In 1999, The Guardian reported Bacall:
She was the poor little Jewish girl from the Bronx who looked like a lady.
She was born in the New York borough in 1924 as Betty Joan Perske. Both of her parents were Jewish, her Mother Romanian and her father Polish. When her parents divorced in 1929, Bacall stopped seeing her father, though she remained very close to her mother, changing her last name to Bacall.
When Bacall made it big in Hollywood after the success of To Have and Have Not, her mother came to live in Hollywood.
4. Bacall Was One of Hollywood’s First Starlets
Her sultry looks and husky voice made her one of Hollywood’s first bona-fide female stars. Variety describes her star power being fueled by her “her slinky, pouty-lipped head-lowered stare.” It adds that through her abilities and looks she “influenced a generation of actresses.”
5. She Was an ‘Anti-Republican’
Despite being friendly with some of Hollywood’s most famous conservatives in Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne, Bacall identified herself as a liberal Democrat. In a 2005 interview with Larry King, Bacall declared herself an “anti-Republican.”
