‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Premiere Spoilers & Cast Info

The new series NCIS: New Orleans premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. Read on for all the news on the cast, the premise of the show, and all the spoilers we could gather.

– The premiere episode’s synopsis is titled “Musician Heal Thyself” and reads:

A case involving the murder of a Petty Officer, who is a former gang member and later mentored by Agent Pride, is investigated. Agent Brody is still trying to get acquainted with New Orleans.

Variety gives the rundown on the whole first episode, writing:

Undaunted by concern about clichés, the plot for the premiere gets started with the discovery of a human leg in a pile o’ crawfish. And in a convenient flourish to help establish audience bonds with Bakula’s team leader Dwayne Pride (who everyone just calls by his surname), the victim turns out to be a young man he mentored who escaped a gang affiliation and wound up in the Navy.

CBS’ official synopsis of the show is:

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS is a drama about the local field office that investigates criminal cases affecting military personnel in The Big Easy, a city known for its music, entertainment and decadence. Leading the team is Special Agent Dwayne Pride, aka “King,” a native of New Orleans who is driven by his need to do what is right. Working with Pride is Special Agent Christopher LaSalle, who plays hard but works harder; and Special Agent Meredith “Merri” Brody, a charismatic and tough interrogator who transferred from the Great Lakes office in search of a fresh start. Supporting them is coroner Dr. Loretta Wade, who is as eccentric as she is smart. This colorful city that harbors a dark side is a magnet for service personnel on leave, and when overindulgence is followed by trouble, Pride’s team is at its best.

– The main players on the show include actors Scott Bakula, Lucas Black, Zoe McLellan, Emily Wickersham, Mark Harmon, and CCH Pounder.

– It’s based on a real-life NCIS agent. Christian Post reports that:

Based on the story of real-life retired NCIS agent named D’Wayne Swear, Glasberg admits that “NCIS: NO” “was never supposed to be a series.” “Every year I sit down with Mark Harmon, and we talk about sweeps episodes for NCIS. And I told him that I had heard that there was a retired agent in New Orleans who ran the office here for 20 years, and I thought we could do a fun story,” the showrunner told TV Guide.

NOLA gives some info on how the characters interact with each other, writing:

The pilot episodes previewed the byplay that will characterize the playful collegial relationship between LaSalle and New Orleans-newcomer Meredith “Merri” Brody, played by Zoe McLellan. That expands further Tuesday. New to the mix is the equally playful working relationship between coroner Dr. Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder) and forensic specialist Sebastian Lund, played by Rob Kerkovich, added to the main cast in July. Kerkovich gets a cool little entrance in the episode, which sets up his character as very bright, but more than a bit nerdish.

NCIS stars Pauley Perrette and Michael Weatherly will make appearances in episode two.

– The Executive Producer told TV Guide:

We’re really trying to make an effort for this show, for this cast, for this team, to stand on its own and be unique and different — and yet still feel like NCIS, to still feel like it belongs in the family. We absolutely want it to have its own feel, and you want to take advantage of everything that this city has to offer, and try and encapsulate it into these sets and these characters.
