1. Cortese and Padalecki Were Co-Stars on Supernatural

Cortese had a recurring role as “Ruby” on Supernatural in the fourth season. Cortese met actor Jared Padalecki on the set and they ended up dating. Padalecki proposed to Cortese in front of their favorite painting at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art in October 2009. The engagement was officially announced in January 2010.
Padalecki actually got married to Cortese within just a few months of co-star Jensen Ackles getting married.
2. They Got Married In Idaho
Cortese and Padalecki got married on February 27, 2010 in Sun Valley, Idaho, which is Cortese’s hometown. Cortese walked down the aisle in Badgley Mischka heels and a Monique Lhuillier dress on the arms of her stepfather Jeffrey Batt, and her brother, John Cortese.
The cake was from Cristina’s in Ketchum, music was provided by the James Gang band, and Kirsten Shultz was the photographer on the big day. Cortese chose The Valley Club, a mid-Valley golf and country club. Sun Valley Magazine wrote:
The ceremony was in a clear tent on The Valley Club’s terrace while a second tent held the band and “cigar smokers.” … Since she and the groom are “HUGE foodies,” they were also well-pleased with the plated dinners of steak or halibut prepared by The Valley Club’s chef, Mike Diem. “We’ve lived all over and travelled the world. The service and attention at The Valley Club is unbeatable,” she said, and the food was “fantastic.”

Cortese was hoping for a white winter wedding, but the weather hadn’t provided any snow until that very day. Cortese told Sun Valley Mag:
Being from Sun Valley, I was really hoping the snow reports were true. I was doing my best snow dance to the gods. It was clear the entire week and even on the morning of our wedding day, and then—Bam!—right around 4:30 the snow began to fall. So we consider it good luck and a blessing! It was definitely a white wedding.
The only thing husband Padalecki was worried about was the tradition of not seeing the bride before she walked down the aisle. Cortese said:
He wanted our pictures taken after we were married. It was really important to him to NOT see me in my dress.

3. Many Know Her as Kris Furillo From the TV Show Wildfire

Wildfire ran for three years on ABC Family and starred Cortese as Kris Furillo. The plot of the show was this:
Wildfire follows troubled Kris Furillo who, after serving time at a teen detention center, is given the opportunity to start a new life. Her talent with horses is recognized by a volunteer and local trainer Pablo, who arranges a job for her at the Ritter’s family run ranch, Raintree. Thrown into a completely new environment, Kris must learn to deal with the challenges of fitting in, and forming firey relationships, marrying the least favourable, while trying not to disappoint the one family willing to give her a chance. The Ritters are facing challenges of their own even as they reach out to help Kris. Patriarch Henry Ritter and his daughter Jean are in a critical stage of their battle to save the ranch from financial ruin. Kris and Wildfire must help them get back on the map in the world of horse racing.
As far as Cortese’s character rundown goes, she was:
A jockey who previously served time at Camp LaGrange, a correctional facility, for grand theft auto. She shares a special bond with Wildfire, a horse she saved from going to slaughter and helped turn into a champion racehorse … Kris spent most of the show in an on-and-off relationship with Junior Davis, until she pursued a brief but passionate fling with Matt Ritter in Season 3. She then proceeded to marry Junior in the series finale.

Cortese’s mother Camille Batt told the Sun Valley Magazine that her daughter got the acting bug early on.
I had just finished getting all the kids into car seats one morning when Gen, then seven years old, announced, ‘Mom, you know we have to move. We have to move to Hollywood, because I am an ACTOR!’
Cortese also has two brothers and a sister.
5. Cortese Resides in Austin, Texas with Padalecki and Their Two Sons

On October 10, 2011, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child, a son named Thomas Colton Padalecki, who was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 19, 2012. Cortese gave birth to their second son, Austin Shepherd ‘Shep’ Padalecki, at home on December 22, 2013.
The couple resides in Austin, Texas, but has homes in Los Angeles and Vancouver, where Supernatural is filmed.
