Top 5 Best New Books to Read: June 2015 Releases

The upcoming book release calendar for June 2015 looks absolutely great, and I don’t know when I’m going to find the time to do anything with all of these new books to read. There are some great authors releasing books this month, including James Patterson, Grant Blackwood and Diana Gabaldon, whom has undoubtedly seen an uptick in the sales of her Outlander books since the debut of the show on Starz.

Some people prefer listening to their books via audio books, which is a great way to get through new books you wanted to read during your daily commute to and from work. If you sign up for a 30-Day free trial of Audible, you can get two of these audio books for free.

So without further ado, here are the top 5 best new books to read coming in June 2015:

1. The Rumor: A Novel

Author: Elin Hilderbrand
Release Date: June 16, 2015
Official Synopsis:

Nantucket writer Madeline King couldn’t have picked a worse time to have writer’s block. Her deadline is looming, her bills are piling up, and inspiration is in short supply. Madeline’s best friend Grace, is hard at work transforming her garden into the envy of the island with the help of a ruggedly handsome landscape architect. Before she realizes it, Grace is on the verge of a decision that will irrevocably change her life. Could Grace’s crisis be Madeline’s salvation? As the gossip escalates, and the summer’s explosive events come to a head, Grace and Madeline try desperately to set the record straight—but the truth might be even worse than rumor has it.

Elin Hilderbrand has quite a few feel-good stories, including Beautiful Day, Silver Girl and The Beach Club. She’s a New York Times bestselling author, so we can expect that The Rumor: A Novel is going to be a good book. This will be Hilderbrand’s 15th novel.

2. Written in My Own Heart’s Blood: A Novel (Outlander)

Author: Diana Gabaldon
Release Date: June 10, 2015
Official Synopsis:

1778: France declares war on Great Britain, the British army leaves Philadelphia, and George Washington’s troops leave Valley Forge in pursuit. At this moment, Jamie Fraser returns from a presumed watery grave to discover that his best friend has married his wife, his illegitimate son has discovered (to his horror) who his father really is, and his beloved nephew, Ian, wants to marry a Quaker. Meanwhile, Jamie’s wife, Claire, and his sister, Jenny, are busy picking up the pieces.

The Frasers can only be thankful that their daughter Brianna and her family are safe in twentieth-century Scotland. Or not. In fact, Brianna is  searching for her own son, who was kidnapped by a man determined to learn her family’s secrets. Her husband, Roger, has ventured into the past in search of the missing boy . . . never suspecting that the object of his quest has not left the present. Now, with Roger out of the way, the kidnapper can focus on his true target: Brianna herself.

Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series has become quite the popular series, with each of the seven previous Outlander books becoming national bestsellers. It’s clear that fans of the series continue to love Gabaldon’s writing style, even seven books into the series. The Library Journal is calling Written in My Own Heart’s Blood “another breakneck, rip-roaring, oh-so-addictive page-turner.”

3. The English Spy

Author: Daniel Silva
Release Date: June 30, 2015
Official Synopsis:

The target is royal

The game is revenge

Gabriel Allon returns in the summer’s hottest thriller, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Daniel Silva.

Stretched topless upon the foredeck, drink in hand, her flawless skin baking in the sun, was the most famous woman in the world. And one deck below, preparing an appetizer of tuna tartare, cucumber, and pineapple, was the man who was going to kill her. . . .

She is an iconic member of the British Royal Family, beloved for her beauty and charitable works, resented by her former husband and his mother, the Queen of England. But when a bomb explodes aboard her holiday yacht, British intelligence turns to one man to track down her killer: legendary spy and assassin Gabriel Allon.

Gabriel’s target is Eamon Quinn, a master bomb maker and mercenary of death who sells his services to the highest bidder. Quinn is an elusive man of the shadows—”a whisper in a half-lit chapel, a loose thread at the hem of a discarded garment”—but fortunately Gabriel does not pursue him alone. At his side is Christopher Keller, a British commando turned professional assassin who knows Quinn’s murderous handiwork all too well.

The English Spy moves at light speed from the glamorous island of Saint Barthélemy to the mean streets of West Belfast to a cottage atop the cliffs of Cornwall that Gabriel holds dear. And though he does not realize it, he is stalking an old enemy—a cabal of evil that wants nothing more than to see him dead. Gabriel will find it necessary to oblige them, for when a man is out for vengeance, death has its distinct advantages.

Filled with breathtaking twists, The English Spy will hold readers spellbound from its riveting opening passages to its heart-stopping conclusion. It is a timely reminder that there are some men in the world who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. And it proves once again why Daniel Silva is regarded as his generation’s finest writer of international thrillers.

New York Times bestselling author Daniel Silva has another new book to read in the Gabriel Allon Series — the fifteenth book — titled The English Spy. Silva’s Allon books are well-paced, and it’s the closest we’ll get to a new Bond book right now. And, the audio book is very exciting to listen to, read by George Guidall.

4. Tom Clancy Under Fire (Jack Ryan)

Author: Grant Blackwood
Release Date: June 16, 2015
Official Synopsis (Back Cover):

On a routine intelligence gathering mission in Tehran, Jack Ryan, Jr., has lunch with his oldest friend, Seth Gregory, an engineer overseeing a transcontinental railway project. As they part, Seth slips Jack a key, along with a perplexing message.

The next day Jack is summoned to an apartment where two men claim Seth has disappeared—gone to ground with funds for a vital intelligence operation.  Jack’s oldest friend has turned, they insist.

They leave Jack with a warning:  If you hear from Seth Gregory, call us immediately. And do not get involved.

Tom Clancy is a huge name in the wonderful world of books, and Grant Blackwood’s Briggs Tanner Novels were absolutely fantastic. This is his first attempt at writing a Tom Clancy novel on his own, and judging from his past works with Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler’s help, Blackwood can probably handle things on his own, now.

5. Truth or Die

Author: James Patterson, Howard Roughan
Release Date: June 22, 2015
Official Synopsis:

After a serious professional stumble, attorney Trevor Mann may have finally hit his stride. He’s found happiness with his girlfriend Claire Parker, a beautiful, ambitious journalist always on the hunt for a scoop. But when Claire’s newest story leads to a violent confrontation, Trevor’s newly peaceful life is shattered as he tries to find out why.

Chasing Claire’s leads, Trevor unearths evidence of a shocking secret that-if it actually exists-every government and terrorist organization around the world would do anything to possess. Suddenly it’s up to Trevor, along with a teenage genius who gives new meaning to the phrase “too smart for his own good,” to make sure that secret doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. But Trevor is about to discover that good and evil can look a lot alike, and nothing is ever black and white: not even the truth.

Not only is Truth or Die a great name for a novel, but this one is written by James Patterson and Howard Roughan. If you haven’t read any James Patterson books, you’re simply not doing books right. His novels are always top notch, and quite frequently are made into movies (Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, Alex Cross). In fact, Time Magazine named him “The Man Who Can’t Miss.” He has a seemingly never-ending stream of new books to read, and his books are always thrilling. Truth or Die is sure to be a must-read, or must-listen to (depending on your preference).
