It’s no wonder Rihanna was pretty much absent from the red carpet at tonight’s 2016 VMAs. She kicked off the MTV Video Music Awards in a major way tonight.
The show opened with a completely white set and dancers completely dressed in corseted, yet futuristic looks. Rihanna was covered up but still managed to bring her sexuality and skin to her set.
The hit songs that Rihanna included in her big opening performance were “Only Girl,” “Please Don’t Stop the Music”, “We Found Love”, and “Where Have You Been”.
Tonight, Rihanna is the recipient of the 2016 Video Vanguard Award. And, if you thought that the opening was RiRi’s only performance, you were completely WRONG. Rihanna performed a total of four times tonight and we’ve got video clips of each performance throughout the night.
For another of Rihanna’s performances, she seemed to appear in the audience, surrounded by dancers. For her second set, Rihanna busted out “Rude Boy”, “What’s My Name” and “Work.” With Drake having collaborated with RiRi on two of those songs, we were hoping for a Drake appearance. Unfortunately, there was no Drake in her performance.
Later on in the night, Rihanna took the stage to give a sexy performance mash-up of “Pour It Up” and “Bitch Better Have My Money.”
For RiRi’s final performance, she took the stage, accompanied by a choir, performing songs “Stay”, “Diamonds” and “Love On the Brain.”
After Rihanna’s final performance, Drake presented her with the Video Vanguard Award and professed his love to her, followed by a kiss.
