Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have called off their divorce again. A source told People Magazine that they are trying to work through their rough patch, but are not back together just yet.
“Jen has called off the divorce,” a source told the magazine. “She really wants to work things out with Ben. They are giving things another try.”
Another source said they made the decision together for their kids. “There is always a chance of reconciliation. They love each other. They also really, really love their kids, and those kids love their parents,” the source said.
This is a bit surprising, since just two weeks ago, Us Weekly reported that Garner was finally ready to file for divorce. At that time, a source told Us Weekly that Affleck already moved out of their Brentwood home. Two days after that report, Gossip Cop debunked a similar report that appeared in the tabloid Star.
An Entertainment Tonight report on February 17 also debunked the Us Weekly report, reporting that they are still committed to co-parenting.
“They have maintained such a strong and beautiful united front to stay lovely and classy towards each other for their kids,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “They spend so much time working on their relationship — whether it’s a friendship or anything — for their kids.”
People Magazine’s new report does reference the rumors that Garner was about to file for divorce. A source told the magazine that she was telling friends that she planned to file, adding, “She just wanted to move on and focus on the happy things in her life. She was exhausted from all the ups and downs.”
Affleck and Garner announced their divorce in June 2015, but held off on filing for divorce. The divorce was announced a day after their 10th anniversary and left Hollywood stunned. The two are parents to Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Sam, 5.
“Of course this is not what I imagined when I ran down the beach, but it is where I am,” Garner told Vanity Fair in February 2016. “We still have to help each other get through this. He’s still the only person who really knows the truth about things. And I’m still the only person that knows some of his truths.”
In that same interview, Garner referred to Affleck as the “love of my life.”
“I’ve had my wildest dreams come true, but the price is the Faustian exchange you make where your identity is not your own. You become a public figure and it changes all the rules,” Affelck told the Guardian in January 2017. “The press can become invasive and dishonest, and you have to put up with inconvenient stuff like that. I’m at peace with paying my own price, what I’m not at peace with is when it invades on my kids’ space and time. They didn’t make any bargains. I try to shelter them as best I can. That’s my only real gripe.”
Since announcing their divorce, Affleck was reportedly seeing former nanny Christine Ousounian for a period of time. Affleck was also once seen with a detox nurse, Elizabeth Weaver, but she is just friends with Affleck.
