Who killed Jason Blossom? We’ll finally find out in tonight’s episode of The CW’s Riverdale. It’s also the penultimate episode of the show’s first season. “Chapter Twelve: Anatomy of a Murder” debuts on Thursday, May 4 at 9 p.m. ET. Read on for a preview of the episode and to watch a trailer.

In the previous episode, “Chapter Eleven: To Riverdale and Back Again,” Betty’s mom Alice had Archie and Veronica break into FP Jones’ home. When they snooped around, they didn’t find anything connecting Jughead’s dad to Jason’s murder. But just moments later, FP was arrested because a gun was found at the home.
Did Archie and Veronica just not see the gun or was it planted there? Archie, Betty and Veronica are not convinced the FP is the murderer and try to get their parents on their side in “Anatomy of a Murder.” Jughead, who can’t believe his friends would really break into his dad’s home, also doesn’t think his dad would commit murder.
That’s not all that’s going on in the new episode. Cheryl tries to answer one of her own mysteries. Why didn’t her mom treat her as well as she treated Jason? It really doesn’t make sense, especially when Cheryl’s father told her that she will carry on the Blossom name better than Jason would have.

There have been countless fan theories online about who killed Jason and you’ll find out if you were right tonight. Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty, told Teen Vogue that she’s heard from fans who think Betty could be the killer.
So many people have been tweeting me lately saying that actually Betty is the killer,” she told the magazine. “They’re like, ‘I think Betty’s the killer.’ And they haven’t really explained why they think that. I think they just think, ‘Betty […] gets it from Alice, so she’s the killer.’”

This week’s episode title comes from the 1959 Otto Preminger classic starring James Stewart, which centers on a rape case. The film earned seven Oscar nominations and is widely considered one of the best courtroom dramas ever made.
