Beyonce and Jay Z welcomed boy/girl twins on Monday, June 12. The power couple has not officially announced the birth of their babies and few details about them have been revealed.

“Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends,” a source told People Magazine.

Just hours after the birth of the Carter twins was announced, however, TMZ reported that the babies are still in an LA-area hospital due to a “minor issue.” The site has since reported that the new babies were born premature. A source tells TMZ that the twins are “under the lights.”

“That often means the babies have jaundice because of elevated bilirubin levels. The lights are designed to lower bilirubin in the blood to eliminate the jaundice. The condition is common among preemies and in most cases not dangerous.”

Beyonce has been staying at the hospital with her babies, but the site previously reported that she is doing fine.

Fans had already begun speculating about what might have been going on with the twins, and most people concluded that the babies were probably born a little early. Since Beyonce announced that she was pregnant in February, believed to be about three or four months along at the time, many thought that her actual due date was some time in July. If this was the case, Beyonce’s twins were born at least three weeks early.

Neither Jay Z nor Beyonce have released a statement of any kind about the birth of their twins. This has concerned some fans, especially since hearing the report that there is something going on, even if that something is minor. However, if you think back to when Beyonce gave birth to Blue Ivy, she and Jay Z didn’t share the news until two days after the story broke online. It has been three days since new broke this time around, however, and there’s been radio silence from Mr. and Mrs. Carter.
