Jessica Biel, who stars in USA Network’s The Sinner, is married to singer Justin Timberlake and has a son. She also has a busy family life, with a brother who runs his own business.
The 35-year-old Biel hasn’t appeared on television in over a decade. She was last seen on the small screen in 7th Heaven, the sitcom that made her a star. Since 2006, her career has focused on movies, with roles in The Illusionist, Valentine’s Day, Total Recall, Hitchcock and The Book of Love. She’s currently working on Rob Reiner’s Shock and Awe, a film about journalists investigating the Bush Administration’s claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.
Biel and Timberlake have a son, Silas Randall Timberlake, who was born in April 2015.

Here’s what you need to know about Biel’s family.
1. Biel’s Father Jonathan Worked for General Electric & Ran His Own Business in Colorado
Although she was born in Ely, Minnesota, Biel was raised in Boulder, Colorado by Kimberly and Jonathan Biel. In a 2010 Vogue profile, Biel said her father worked for General Electric and was a business consultant in Boulder.
“He is extremely motivated and ambitious,” she told Vogue. “I get those qualities from him.”
Biel’s mother, whose maiden name is Conroe, grew up outside of Denver and is one of six children. Kimberly Biel worked as a spiritual healer and has Native American ancestry.
In her Vogue interview, Biel said her parents dehydrate their food and grow their own vegetables. “I actually do, too!” she told the magazine.
2. Biel’s Great-Great-Grandparents Were Immigrants from Austria-Hungary & Were Jewish
In April, Biel appeared on TLC’s Who Do You Think You Are? and learned about her family history. In the episode, she learned that her great-great-grandparents, Morris and Ottilia Biel, arrived in the U.S. in 1889 and were from Austria-Hungary. She was also surprised to learn that they were Jewish.
“I never heard any of this before. I’m really surprised,” Biel said in the episode. “I can’t wait to share this with my dad.”
Biel said she never belonged to a religious community growing up, but was excited to “learn a lot more about the Hungarian Jews. I’m really interested in diving into Jewish culture a little bit more.”
A 2009 NJ.com profile notes that she also has German, English, Irish, French and Choctaw ancestry. In that interview, Biel again mentioned how health-conscious her parents are.
“My whole family was just very active, so I grew up with a healthy body image, thank God,” she told NJ.com. “I thought having muscles was a good thing.”
3. Biel’s Younger Brother Justin Ran an Eco-Accessories Brand Called BAREMADE
Biel has two Justins in her life. Her younger brother is also a Justin and, like their father, is ambitious. The 32-year-old Justin Biel is an experienced entrepreneur.
In 2013, he was featured in Vogue for launching BAREMADE, an eco-accessories brand that specialized in ecologically-friendly bags. Jessica was a partner in the venture.
“My brother is one of those people that I just have total, 100 percent faith in,” Biel told Vogue of her brother. “And I’ve known Grason [Ratowsky, his best friend] since I was in sixth grade. Together they’ve just, I don’t know, always surprised me and done things that were way older than their years.”
Although BAREMADE isn’t in business any longer (the venture’s site no longer exists and its Facebook page hasn’t been updated since February 2016), Justin Biel continues working in public relations and journalism. According to his LinkedIn page, he’s been a senior copywriter at Direct Response Copywriting in Denver since January 2017.
4. Now That She’s a Parent Herself, Biel Says She’s Never Been More ‘Grateful to My Own Mother’
Biel and Timberlake are parents to two-year-old Silas. Now that she’s a parent herself, Biel told the U.K. Mirror that she’s never been more grateful to her mother.
“He’s wonderful. He’s just a joy. It’s an amazing, amazing experience,” Biel said of being a parent to Silas in 2015. “[It’s] incredibly hard, the hardest job in the world and I’ve never been more thankful and grateful to my own mother.”
Biel continued, “Oh, my gosh I’m going to call her right after this actually and just thank her. What you have to do for your kid – it’s an amazing responsibility and the biggest joy ever.”
In a new interview with USA Today, Biel said that being a parent has influenced her career decisions due to the time commitment.
“I definitely find that I’m way more picky, simply because of the time commitment,” Biel told USA Today. “More than anything, you want to spend time with your family, and it’s such a full body-and-soul experience being an actor that you have to pick wisely. Otherwise, you’re just gone all the time and that’s not what I want.”
5. Biel & Timberlake Have Been Married for Almost 5 Years
Biel and Timberlake have been married for almost five years, which feels like an eternity in Hollywood terms. They are still clearly in love, and they often appear in each other’s Instagram photos.
“To all the dads out there, including mine, who selflessly give their time and love to their families, I appreciate and salute you,” Biel wrote on Father’s Day. “And to my beloved husband, my adventure companion, my road dog, who works tirelessly for THIS family and gives of himself energetically and spiritually every day, I am eternally grateful for you and your love. As Silas likes to say, “you are so much cool.” I love you to the moon and back.”
“Thank goodness for [my family] because otherwise I’d be a depressive mess, like a blob on the floor eating cake balls consistently,” Biel recently told People Magazine.
Biel and Timberlake started dating in 2007 and were engaged in 2011. They married in Italy in 2012.
