Team Jennifer Hudson on "The Voice" 2018
Jennifer Hudson is a major competitor on The Voice, and she has been a coach that contestants yearn to work with on the show. Next season, Hudson will be taking a break from the show, which is common for judges. Over the years, some of the other coaches who have participated in the show include Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Alicia Keys. Replacing Hudson next season is John Legend, who joins the show as a 2019 judge.
This is Hudson's second season on The Voice and when she first became a cast member, Billboard reported her saying that, "For me to come from a place like that, where once I was a contestant and then who would’ve ever thought that I would be a coach, and the chair’s turning around for other hopefuls." Hudson was a winner on American Idol, just like her fellow Voice judge Kelly Clarkson. In fact, Clarkson was the first ever winner on the classic, singing competition show.
Now let's get into the contestants who are left on J-Hud's team on The Voice season 15. Her remaining singers are Kennedy Holmes and MaKenzie Thomas. Holmes has been a front-runner this season.
As a contestant during the blind auditions, MaKenzie Thomas automatically defaulted onto Hudson's team. She performed the song "Big White Room" for her audition and Hudson was the only coach to turn her chair around for the singer.
Thomas is 20 years old and is from Wallingford, Kentucky. This is not her first time appearing on The Voice, as she actually auditioned for The Voice last season. When she appeared on season 14, she didn't make it onto any team, so she practiced at home, worked on her vocals and came back for another try, which turned out to be successful. Thomas' NBC bio gave more details about her Voice journey, stating, "MaKenzie has returned to The Voice feeling more confident than ever. Unfortunately, MaKenzie did not make a team during the Season 14 Blind Auditions, but she took the coaches' advice very seriously. She spent the last year refining her vocals, dispelling her nerves and performing with a gospel band called Elevated Praise to prepare for her second audition."
Contestant Kennedy Holmes is the youngest singer left on the show, as she is only 13 years old. When she first auditioned on the show this season, she earned a four-chair turn from the judge, with a performance of the song "Turning Tables".
Coach Jennifer Hudson is known for throwing her shoes at contestants when she gets really excited or moved by their performances. She has definitely proven this to be true on the show this season. She has even thrown shoes at contestants who weren't on her team. Talking about her shoe-throwing habit, Hudson said on The Voice that, "Where I come from, that's a compliment. And we know at times when you sing like that, you better be prepared to what? Duck."
Now that you have the rundown on Jennifer Hudson's team, you can continue to get to know who the remaining singers are on the show this season. Move on to the next page for Blake Shelton's team members left on season 15 of The Voice.
