Now that season 10 of “When Calls the Heart” has ended, Hallmark viewers are already turning their sights to season 11. Co-creator Brian Bird and showrunner Lindsay Sturman dropped hints on what viewers can expect in season 11, including when the show might return and a wedding that is being planned.

Brian Bird Said a Wedding Will Happen in Season 11

During an interview on Heart to Hearties with showrunner Lindsay Sturman and co-creator and executive director Brian Bird, details emerged about season 11, including one fact that surprised “When Calls the Heart” fans.

When asked around 42:34 into the interview what he’s looking forward to the most next season, Bird said he’s excited about a wedding that will happen.

“There’s going to be a wedding in season 11,” Bird said. “I’m not going to say what it is or who’s getting married, but there’s going to be another wedding in Hope Valley. How about that? I’m looking forward to that.”

Sturman had a different response.

“I was gonna say who flashed the headlights at Lucas…” she said. “And also what Elizabeth’s next chapter is now that this huge change happened. So that’s what I’m excited for.”

Bird Divulged What He Knows So Far About the Premiere Date

When Bird was asked about when season 11 will premiere, he was honest that he doesn’t have a date yet, even though they’re almost finished filming.

“It’s in conversation,” Bird said. “…We are hopeful that it will be sooner rather than later. However… we’re just happy to be on the air and we will land in Hearties’ homes whenever we can get them. And whenever they’ll let us.”

Last season the show premiered later than normal, due to “Ride” and “The Way Home” airing first. As for this season, the decision on when to bring the show back is still up in the air.

“It’s definitely an ongoing conversation right now,” Bird said. “And the strikes clearly drop a bomb on the whole industry, and so that actually has some impact on that question. And so it may or may not help us or change things, but we don’t get to make those decisions. The network gets to decide when they want to air it… So we will show up whenever they allow us.”

He Talked About Abigail’s Potential Return

Another big cliffhanger for season 10 showed Henry arriving at Abigail’s home. Does this mean Lori Loughlin might return? Bird was evasive in his response around 6:40 into the interview.

“What I can say is that there are good conversations happening,” he said. “We can’t guarantee anything, but there are good conversations happening around this topic.”

When asked how Loughlin was doing personally after the college admissions scandal and her serving time in prison, he said she was doing well.

“She is doing really good,” he said. “…She’s assured us that she has found some peace and she’s made it through her ordeal—her and her husband’s ordeal—and she’s in a much better place than she was… Our attitude always has been … What better place for second chances than Hope Valley? And so in theory … it should work, right? But again, can’t can’t fully promise it, but we’re working on it.”

Bird and Sturman were happy to share around 8:03 into the interview that Henry will definitely be back.

“Yeah definitely,” Sturman quickly answered. “…Ten seasons for him, you gotta keep … riding that ride with him. We can’t we can’t have the show without him.”

Bird agreed, and noted that there are a lot of stories involving Henry to tell.

“Henry is a living onion,” Bird said. “You just keep peeling the layers back every season.”
