Nintendo is involving the rabid Super Smash Bros. community in its E3 2014 festivities. Not only will gamers get the chance to play live demos of the game at select Best Buy stores, they’ll also get to attend and watch the Super Smash Bros. Wii U invitational tournament.
Here’s every important detail you need to know about this huge fighting game tourney!
1. All The Participants Have Been Announced
16 well-known Super Smash Bros. pro players have already been confirmed for this invitational tourney:

2. The Rules Are as Follows
This huge invitational tournament will start off with four battles (Quarterfinals). Four players will play during each round, plus items will be turned on and players will be given four stock lives during a 5-minute time limit. Once those rounds finally end, the Semi-Finals (2 rounds of 4-player matches) will begin. And once the Semi-Finals close, the Grand Finals will begin. The final two players will face off in a 1v1 fight with all items turned off.

3. The Host and Commentators Have Already Been Put in Place
Longtime GameTrailers TV host Geoff Keighley will handle the event’s hosting duties, while Smash Bros. community members Wynton “Prog” Smith, Bobby “Scar” Scarnewman and D’Ron “D1” Maingrette will commentate each round of the tournament.
4. New Tidbits of Info Have Been Revealed About the New Super Smash Bros
Not only is Super Smash Bros. Wii U still confirmed for a Winter 2014 release, it’s also going to come in a special bundle. The $99.99 bundle will come with the game, the GameCube controller adapter and a special Super Smash Bros. insignia marked controller. The controller will retail on its own for $29.99. The adapter, which will cost $19.99, will be compatible with up to four GameCube controllers or wireless Wavebird gamepads. The 3DS version of the game is still set to arrive in Summer 2014. Newly added to the roster are controllable Mii’s and Princess Palutena from Kid Icarus. Nintendo’s new NFC tech (named “Amiiba”) will be compatible with Super Smash Bros. Wii U.
Masahiro Sakurai confirmed during a roundtable discussion that Pac-Man and Mr. Game & Watch are being added to the game’s official roster. Both characters will adopt their old school, 8-bit movements for battle.
