Use this builder Clash of Clans guide to figure out the best Builder strategies towards crafting the most efficient villages for different playstyles!
1. The Proper Town Hall Placement is Your 1st Priority
• Your Town Hall’s well-being is usually the difference between success and failure. Placing this important building dead center in your village will make it a major target for raiding army troops. You can offer your Town Hall some efficient protection by placing it in a safe corner of your village while it’s protected by a good amount of Walls. If you’re going to go the route of placing it right in the middle of your village, make sure it’s adequately protected by a healthy amount of Defensive Buildings (a couple of Wizard Towers and Hidden Telsa’s should do the trick).
2. The Farmer’s Method Towards Town Hall Placement and Raiding
• If you’re more interested in farming for goods and resources, take a big risk by placing your Town Hall outside of the confines of your Walls. This Farming method consists of placing your Town Hall in an easily accessible space for raiders to tear down. This in turn leads to you gaining a temporary Shield that will protect your village for a few hours. During this time, you’ll need to take the time to further strengthen your buildings, resources and troops for a payback attack against the raiding army that destroyed your Town Hall so easily. This strategy is good for players who look to fool their rivals into thinking they walked away with an easy victory. You’ll run back into their village, hopefully take them apart and walk away with even more resources than before.
3. Placing Different Wall Setups Around Your Village is Key
• You’ll need to figure out the best way to defend your Town Hall and overall village through the use of Wall placement. These Walls should be set around your more important buildings and resources, while the ones you don’t care for as much should be placed outside of them. You can either put up one long single Wall around your base, a double-layered Wall for even durable protection or even a Wall segment that has several layers lined up next to each other. Walls reach their maximum level once they’re fully upgraded to level 11. One smart method towards Walls building is by leaving one lone gap in the middle of a Wall setup. By doing this, attacking troops will tend to walk right through this space and get easily targeted by splash damage Defensive Buildings.
4. Place These Buildings and Resources Within the Confines of Your Walls
• You should use your Walls to protect certain structures, such as all your Defensive Buildings, Town Hall and Gold/Elixir Storage placements. You’ll want to make sure these types of buildings are protected as much as possible, since they play a more important role in your village’s growth and protection.
5. Sacrifice These Buildings and Resources Outside of Your Walls
• Remember when we mentioned the whole farming method about leaving your Town Hall unprotected outside of your Walls? If your Town Hall isn’t that upgraded and your looking to master our little return raid farming tips, this is definitely the way to go. You can also leave your Spell Factory and Laboratory outside of your Walls, too. Trust us, you’ll care more about your troops and Defensive Buildings more than your spells and whatnot. Just make sure you place a few traps outside your Walls as well. Might as well kill off some invading troops while they’re busy looking to tear up your unprotected buildings. You should also place Barracks and Army Camps outside your Walls. They can be sacrificed and built up pretty quickly again, so don’t worry yourself over protecting them so much.
6. Place Hidden Telsa’s Near Your Gold/Elixir Storage
• During raids, you’ll most certainly panic as invading Goblins look to deplete your Gold/Elixir storage setups. If you’re so concerned with keeping your Gold and Elixir safe, place a few Wizard Towers near them all. Wizard Towers can wipe out Goblins pretty quickly, so this building setup works pretty well.
7. Your Base Layout Should Either be Primarily Symmetrical or Asymmetrical
• The two different village layouts that you’ll ultimately make good use of is a symmetrical one or an asymmetrical one. Your Wall placement within a symmetrical base setup is very important. This will make raiding troops work even harder to tear down a village that’s covered by several connected Walls. Your troops will (especially your Air Troops) work good within the confines of a symmetrical village setup. An asymmetrical village layout can look as random as you want it to be. It might not look well-put together but don’t be fooled whenever you come across one. There’s always a method to someone’s custom built village, so be careful of defensive surprises.
8. Fool Your Opponents With Those Empty Spaces Within Your Village
• Constructing your village for the best Defensive effectiveness means you’ll need to placing some hidden Traps or Defensive Buildings. Fool your rivals by stationing some various traps and Hidden Telsa buildings within those seemingly empty spots inside your fort.
9. The Basics Behind The Builders
• The village Builders reside within Builder’s Huts that you’ll be able to put up at various level limits within the game. You’ll unlock your 1st Builder Hut as soon as you start the game and any additional huts will cost you a set of Gems. Your 2nd hut will cost 250 Gems, your 3rd hut will cost 500 Gems, your 4th hut will cost 1,000 Gems and your 5th hut will cost 2,000 Gems. It’s best to spend your Gems on Builders and their huts before yo use them to upgrade your other buildings and resources. Spawn the max of five Builders at one time and put each one to work immediately. It might be costly to place more than two Builders on the village, but it’s worth the Gems.
10. If You’re Looking to Rebuild Your Village Layout, Do It While You’re Protected
• If you’re still not pleased with the overall look and layout of how your village’s construction turned out, just head into Village Edit mode and change up a few things. You’ll be able to unlock this option once your Town Hall hits level 3. This mode of play gives you the option to clear out any space within your village, place some new buildings here and there and make up a new layout that’s saved for future reference. But make sure you do this while you’re being protected by a Shield boost. You still are susceptible to raids even when you’re in Village Edit Mode.
